Basic Life Support classes are a mandatory class for many professions. Below are a few frequently asked questions about this type of medical training.

What is BLS?

Basic Life Support (or BLS) is CPR for the Healthcare Professional (doctor, nurse, EMT, etc). It includes basic and advanced CPR techniques, relief of obstructed airway, and Automated External Deliberator training.

Who can perform it?

Doctors, paramedics, and other first responders can offer basic life support, as it is covered early on in their medical training. However, the average person can also perform this type of training if he or she has taken a workshop. Anyone wanting to learn the life-saving techniques of CPR may take this class.

Why is it useful?

People hear stories sometimes of how a person managed to save another person’s life by performing basic first aid or CPR. While most people will not come across such a situation, it can be useful to know, especially if your job involves working with children, at a restaurant, healthcare facility or with the public in general.

For people who want to receive training in basic medical care, a Basic Life Support workshop is a great choice. You can save a life and be knowledgeable about BLS. Contact HeartCert CPR for more information on how to join a class.
