Make a difference! Become a CNA with the HeartCert Nursing Assistant Program! Our state approved CNA Program offers students a chance to learn in a hands-on environment under the eyes of experienced licensed nurses, bolstered by a curriculum that meets or exceeds federal and state standards.
Graduates of the program are eligible to take the Georgia CNA competency examination. After successful completion of the state exam (additional state testing fees may apply) you will be listed on the state Nurse Aide Registry. The state competency exam includes both a written examination and a skills evaluation. The purpose of the state exam is to make sure that the graduate understands and can safely perform in the role of an entry-level nurse assistant.
Course Information
The training course has several components. Students must pass all portions of the training in order to graduate.
- Blended learning – Students will first complete 40+ hours of online training required prior to the listed in-classroom dates. Access to the online material will be granted soon after registration and no later than roughly 7 – 10 days prior to the classroom courses. Those who do not complete the online portion will not be allowed into the in-person sessions and must reschedule.
- Classroom learning / lab – after completing the online portion of the class, students will attend 40 hours of classroom practical / testing sessions. Clinical rotations will be at a location near the training building and also required. Information on this can be found on the registration page after clicking your course option. Background and drug screening tests are required by most clinical sites and information will be sent regarding options to complete these tests after registration.
- After successful completion of steps 1 and 2 students may apply for employment and/or register for the state exam for licensure. All information for state testing will be provided after your course.
Prerequisites:
A. All candidates must pass a required background and drug test prior to clinical rotations as required per the state and clinical location. Additional fees may apply. You can do this with your own provider or we will provide several options. If you are unable to pass these tests you will not be able to continue to clinicals and complete the program and a partial refund minus the online course and current instruction received will apply.
B. Students must be 16 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED.
C. Scrubs and masks are required for in-person sessions. Though not a prerequisite for CNA training, it is highly recommended that you also have a current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification card. This is required by most employers and is a separate class/certification. Information on options to take this course (if needed/desired) will be emailed prior to your course and can be foun by selecting BLS from the navigation menu on our website.
